Therapy for people carrying complexity at work, at home and in relationships.

I work with adults and couples who want to understand recurring emotional and relationship patterns and practise different responses. My style is warm, direct and structured, with room for both difficult feelings and practical change.

What we may work on

Understanding what keeps repeating.

You may be functioning well on the outside while carrying stress, uncertainty or relationship strain that is becoming harder to ignore. We begin by making sense of the pattern together, then choose what to explore or practise.

Work and leadership

Executive pressure, burnout, career transitions, difficult professional relationships and the weight of responsibility.

Emotions and mood

Anxiety, depression, intense emotions, reactivity and the shame or confusion that can follow.

Neurodivergence

ADHD, autism and the work of understanding a brain that may not match conventional expectations.

Family-member stress

The impact of loving someone with BPD, ADHD or other complex mental health needs, including boundaries and communication.

Relationships and couples

Recurring cycles, disconnection, conflict, communication and finding a more workable way to respond to one another.

Meaning and direction

Identity, purpose, life transitions and deciding what you want your next chapter to stand for.

Treatment approach

Curiosity, formulation and practice.

I help clients understand the patterns behind intense emotions, persistent stress and difficult interactions. Depending on your goals, our work may include values clarification, emotional processing, examining habitual thinking, and practical regulation, communication and relationship skills.

When useful, we may also explore how attention, learning, threat responses and nervous-system states influence what is happening. I draw from ACT, DBT, emotion-focused therapy, CBT and IFS within my training and competence, rather than assuming one method fits everyone.

Background

A second career grounded in lived experience.

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent 35 years in software, including 20 years leading global engineering teams and most recently serving as VP R&D at Qlik. That experience gives me a first-hand understanding of leadership pressure, workplace systems and the strain of carrying responsibility for other people.

My practice is also informed by lived family experience with anxiety, ADHD, autism and BPD. I completed a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology in 2026 and am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).

Outside psychotherapy

Mental-health family and research roles

I serve as President of the Ottawa Network for Borderline Personality Disorder and co-lead skills programs for family members. At The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, I serve on the Family Advisory Council, Integrative Research Committee and Research Ethics Board. These are volunteer and advisory roles, separate from my psychotherapy practice.
